To celebrate the Autumnal Equinox, TSDBT will be holding its 2023 Autumn Ohigan services on September 17th starting at 10:15 AM preceded by family service at 09:30 AM.
What is Ohigan?
Higan, meaning “Other Shore”, is a service conducted during the Spring and Autumnal equinoxes. At these times, the weather is neither too warm nor too cold and the days and nights are of equal length. Therefore, we gather together and turn our minds to the harmony of nature and devote ourselves to the realization of this harmony in our inner lives while concentrating on the Six Paramitas or Six Perfections. They include selfless giving (dana), discipline (sila), patience (ksanti), endeavor (virya), meditation (dhyana), and wisdom (prajna). We humbly put them into practice.
We welcome you to join us for our weekly service as well as our other special observances held throughout the year.
